Today, June 16, Senator Sheldon Whitehouse and Senator Brian Schatz introduced a new carbon pricing bill called “The Save Our Future Act.” In the 116th Congress, Sens. Whitehouse, Schatz Heinrich and Gillibrand introduced a similar bill called the The American Opportunity Carbon Fee Act of 2019 (S.1128; 116th). This legislation would place an ambitious price on carbon to reduce America's emissions, while also addressing long-standing environmental justice concerns, investing in coal communities to support their transition to a clean energy economy, and protecting American households by providing regular rebates and funding for further emissions reductions.
