Join world-renowned researcher Dr. Alberto Burquez for a free presentation on giant columnar cacti, including Arizona's iconic saguaros. Dr. Burquez will detail his research on their evolutionary history, ecology, adaptations to the Sonoran Desert, and the effects of climate change.

A researcher at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), Dr. Burquez is a co-author of "The Saguaro Cactus: A Natural History" and an expert in columnar cacti population ecology and genetics. His work also covers plant-animal relationships and land-use change in the Sonoran Desert.
