Where does your garbage go when you throw it away? Away for the residents of Portland, Oregon and Seattle, Washington is the Columbia Ridge Landfill in Arlington Oregon. Sustainable Today visited this mammoth site to see how it works and how you can limit the amount of waste that is buried. She emphasizes that "environmental justice equals Indigenous rights" and highlights the principle of giving back to restore balance.

An educator, activist, author, and artist, Spears founded the Nuweetooun School and taught for 12 years in Newport. Her compelling advocacy for Indigenous history and cultural heritage earned her the 2017 Tom Roberts Prize and recognition as one of 2010's 11 Extraordinary Women.
