About This Collection
Called From Darkness is a six-part documentary series that explores the spiritual dimensions of addiction recovery. Finding community and recovering one’s own meaning and purpose is the means by which people step into the light.
The six films are Just Us, Homeboy Joy Ride, Journeys on the Red Road, Stand Down, Soul Sanctuary, and Welcome to the Recovery Cafe.
There have been national screenings of these documentaries at conferences sponsored by the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans, Faces and Voices of Recovery, NAADAC (National Association for Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors), AARP, as well as being used by various Tribal Nations, treatment centers, and colleges and universities.

In 2023 Paul was awarded the Michael Q. Ford Journalist of the Year Award from NAATP (National Association of Addiction Treatment Providers.

Recovery Cafe |
| The Recovery CafÃÆ’ƒÃ‚© Network (RCN) is committed to training and nurturing groups seeking to start recovery communities based on the Recovery CafÃÆ’ƒÃ‚© Model. This video features the founder, Killian Noe. Through a cohort learning model, CafÃÆ’ƒÃ‚©s are provided with mentorship, materials, expertise, and facilitated learning experiences to create a recovery community in their area. The RCN team is committed to helping those who join the Network as an Emerging Member CafÃÆ’ƒÃ‚© succeed in starting their program, in building recovery capital in their communities, and in becoming certified as Full Member CafÃÆ’ƒÃ‚©s of the Network. The Network creates the structure for us to learn from each other about what does and does not work. It also creates a platform to generate greater resources.
