About This Collection

The Thacker Pass Lithium Mine is a proposed lithium clay mining development project in Humboldt County, Nevada which is the largest known lithium deposit in the US, and one of the largest in the world. 

Lithium Americas is focused on advancing lithium projects in Argentina and the United States. In Argentina, the Caucharí-Olaroz lithium project is advancing towards first production and Pastos Grandes represents additional regional growth. In the United States, Thacker Pass has received its Record of Decision and is advancing toward construction. The Company trades on both the Toronto Stock Exchange and the New York Stock Exchange, under the ticker symbol “LAC”.

Thacker Pass is a Spiritual Battleground

I recorded this video last week on a cliff in Thacker Pass. While the lithium mining battle there is a local dispute over habitat and indigenous rights, it also represents a new frontier in the extraction economy. The search for oil "replacements" like lithium perpetuates similar environmental harm and community destruction, repeating old patterns of abuse.

This situation at Thacker Pass is emblematic of a deeper societal struggle: the conflict between our destructive impulses and our higher selves. Read more at maxwilbert.substack.com.
