Global youth employment is a critical issue, with un.org reporting 75 million young people unemployed in 2021 and 600 million new jobs needed over 15 years. World Youth Skills Day is observed on July 15th. In this podcast, we hear from Alice Tipap, a Maasai woman from Tanzania, who discusses youth in her region.

Indigenous youth, if supported, are invaluable assets, driving idealism, creativity, and entrepreneurship. They possess the power to transform their communities and contribute to a better world. Alice shares the challenges faced by young people in her community.

Ashok Khosla is Chairman of Development Alternatives in New Delhi, India. Previously, Khosla established and headed the Office of Environmental Planning and Coordination in India's national government. Khosla subsequently was Director of INFOTERRA, the global information system of the UN Environment Programme, was a Special Advisor to the Brundtland Commission, and served as an advisor to the United Nations, World Bank and Global Environmental Facility.

His talk examines the problem's scale, its social and economic impacts using historical examples, and questions potential solutions or if the damage is irreversible.

Professor Booth is Director of Catholic Mission at St. Mary’s, Director of the Vinson Centre, Professor of Economics at University of Buckingham, and Senior Academic Fellow at the Institute of Economic Affairs. He previously advised the Bank of England and has authored several books.
