El Programa de Liderazgo en el Sistema Arrecifal Mesoamericano (Liderazgo SAM) es una nueva iniciativa del Fondo Mexicano para la Conservación de la Naturaleza, A.C., en asociación con la Fundación Summit. Su objetivo es acelerar los esfuerzos de conservación en la ecorregión del Sistema Arrecifal Mesoamericano.

Esto se logra identificando y capacitando a líderes locales. Estos líderes implementarán proyectos audaces y replicables, con el fin último de reducir las principales amenazas que ponen en riesgo al arrecife.

A short video provides a space-based view of the burning rig and the ensuing oil slick through May 24, 2010. The slick, appearing grayish-beige, changed due to weather, ocean currents, and chemical dispersants.
