From her research and travels across the US, McGhee shares startling insights into how racism fuels bad policymaking and drains our economic potential -- and offers a crucial rethink on what we can do to create a more prosperous nation for all. "Our fates are linked," she says. "It costs us so much to remain divided."

Adebayo Okeowo is no ordinary human rights lawyer. In this emotive talk given at TEDxPretoria, he shares his idea around using visuals to make the law less complicated and more relatable. Adebayo says that we should never underestimate the power of a picture to communicate critical issues like human rights. Adebayo is a human rights lawyer with vast experience working for African and international organizations including SERAC, Global Rights, Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative, and Global Integrity, amongst others. He currently works as Advocacy Coordinator for the Centre for Human Rights based in Pretoria, South Africa and is a research fellow with the Center for Human Rights Science, Pittsburgh USA.  In 2013, Adebayo started an organization called White Code Centre, which uses audio- visuals to reshape how human rights are perceived. He is also part of the global team working with Amnesty International on its open source investigation project called the Digital Verification Corps (DVC). Adebayo continues to create riveting visuals because he believes in their ability to challenge stereotypes and change status quo. Sunday Morning Worship at 11AM on June 24th at the Federal Correctional Institution in Sheridan, Oregon. An Interfaith gathering for Immigrant Justice to pray and protest the internment of 123 refugees as part of President Trump's "Zero Tolerance" policy whereby parents were separated from their children before being jailed in facilities throughout the United States.  

"Wade in the Water" and other songs were combined with prayers, teaching moments, and readings from the Bible - Mark and the Romans.  

President Trump and Jeff Sessions, the Attorney General of the United States portray citizens objecting to the Zero Tolerance Policy  as "radicals" and "elites" who want open borders and don't care about crime. Such a characterization could not be further from the truth. This video shows Portlanders from all walks of life across a wide spectrum of religions and cultures who have come together, led by love, outside the gates of a federal prison housing 123 detainees to express their opinion that the zero tolerance policy is immoral and show support to those who have been detained.  

The folks at Freedom for Immigration (https://www.freedomforimmigrants.org/...) provide on their site detention maps and statistics for all immigrants in the system. Detention is  big business in America.

Our laughably inefficient buildings account for some 40% of all U. S. primary energy use and associated greenhouse gas emissions. At the same time, our built environment also very often sickens, oppresses and alienates the humans who inhabit it. Bioneers is thrilled to bring together for the first time two of the most visionary architects of our time, who, coming on very different career paths, are both at the forefront of radically expanding our sense of what a truly healthy, nature-honoring and socially equitable built environment could look like.

Deanna Van Buren, the co-founder and Executive Director of Designing Justice and Designing Spaces, is a leading figure in the movement to build “restorative” infrastructure that addresses in its very design the root causes of mass incarceration—poverty, racism, unequal access to resources, and the criminal justice system itself.

Jason McLennan, arguably the most influential “green” architect of our era, has set a high bar, showing us what truly “living,” genuinely regenerative buildings can be. Can these two very different but equally imperative re-visionings of how we rethink the built environment be reconciled/synthesized?
