In an industrial strip of land in Louisiana known as Bayou Corne, a 25-acre sinkhole has formed. As earth sinks into the ground, toxic pollutants are being released into the air. Speech by Mary Robinson, President, Mary Robinson Foundation  at the BSR Conference, November 2013 in San Francisco, California on climate justice.

Mary Robinson served as President of Ireland from 1990 through 1997 and UN High Commissioner for Human Rights from 1997 through 2002. She is a member of the Elders and the Club of Madrid and the recipient of numerous honors and awards, including the Presidential Medal of Freedom from U.S. President Barack Obama.

Growing up in Detroit, Brittany Stallworth, Brower Youth Award Winner 2012, and members of her family suffered from limited access to healthy food and exposure to toxic emissions from nearby car factories. Driven by her own experience with environmental injustice, Stallworth founded "Green is the New Black" — a food and environmental justice campaign at Howard University. As part of the campaign, Stallworth organized on-campus workshops for students led by experts in food, health, and environmental issues. She also helped organize a symposium attended by more than 35 green organizations that offered internship and job opportunities to the college students. The passion Stallworth brings to this cause has inspired others to take action in improving food accessibility and environmental justice in underprivileged communities

Julian Agyeman Keynote from AASHE 2010 Conference. As an ecologist/biogeographer turned environmental social scientist, he has both a science and social science background which helps frame his perspectives, research and scholarship.

Julian Agyeman, professor and chair of urban and environmental policy and planning, holds a a Ph.D in Environmental Education from the University of London, an M.A. in Conservation Policy from Middlesex University, UK and a B.Sc (joint honours) in Geography and Botany from Durham University, UK.
