Bridging the digital skills divide

One of the main barriers to Internet use and hence closing the digital divide is the lack of knowledge and skills of people to effectively use digital technologies, and the benefits they can bring.
The session will look at those who are still not using digital technologies and will explore the skills needs that will help bridge the digital divide. It will explore issues such as the Internet usage gap and specific groups that need particular attention, including the elderly, persons with disabilities, farmers, or women in rural and remote communities. It will also highlight the intergenerational skills gap and present examples of successful digital skills initiatives that contribute to closing the usage gap. The session will identify concrete actions, solutions and tools that can help achieve the SDGs through inclusive digital capacity and skills development.

Dr. Robert discusses the importance of defining sustainability and using a common framework to help businesses succeed. Dr. Robert discusses elements of the framework for strategic sustainable development such as ABCD and the 3 prioritizing questions.

journey from Wall Street to being a sustainability advocate. An early
influence in his understanding of the sustainability crisis was the work
of Herman Daly's book, For the Common Good: Redirecting the Economy
toward Community, the Environment, and a Sustainable Future. John
discusses "externalities" and the unsustainable practice of
externalizing costs and risks, both social and environmental. The most

Dr. Peter Victor, Professor and past-Dean of Environmental Studies at York University is interviewed at the International DeGrowth Conference in Barcelona. We do not have to rely on economic growth. His numbers suggest that yes it can be quite feasible to live good lives. This conference is talking about not just stabilizing the economy, but schrinking it. Dennis Wilde is a Principal at Gerding Edlen Development. He is a nationally respected green building expert and helped create the Sustainable Solutions division of GEDI. Mr. Wilde has more than 20 years of experience in urban planning and design, and has been active in construction and real estate development since 1980. Mr. Wilde, who joined GEDI in 1997, is responsible for feasibility studies, management of the pre-construction and construction process, tenant improvement coordination and overall project management.In this interview, he talks about how The Natural Step helped him in his path to sustainability and how now we are realizing the importance of new buildings, but we need to focus on the existing infrastructure and realize the behavior of the people who live in the buildings must change.
