Tora Fisher is a New York-based singer-songwriter and performance artist. Her father founded the Fisher House Foundation, a network of comfort homes for military families. Tora developed a keen interest in both the arts and this philanthropic work.

At 13, Tora was the sole survivor of a plane crash that killed her father and stepmother. Music and performance aided her recovery and pursuit of her dreams as a recording artist. She now supports the Fisher House Foundation by donating proceeds from her CDs.

As Tora aptly puts it, "it's not about what happened to me; it's about what's happening."

I think this has to be understood as in some regards an ethical issue, a moral issue and one has to see it as a wrong to contaminate the planet and to put at risk the future of humanity on the planet. And I think that change is coming and curiously but perhaps not really surprisingly it is coming from young people much more from the generation that’s currently in positions of leadership. Greta and other young people are out there saying to the leaders and political positions of power not only in the United States but across the world step up. You need to do more. And I think we have seen again and again that transformational change is often driven by generational change. And I think it’s almost certainly going to be true on climate change. Fifty years ago if we’d had this interview I’d probably be smoking or maybe smoking a pipe as a professor. That’s so unacceptable now you don’t even have to tell me that I can’t come in and light up a cigarette. Norms have changed. Values have changed. We know now that that’s completely unacceptable and a threat to public health. And I think we’re starting to get there on climate change. Things that might have in the past seemed normal, acceptable, even if they seemed a little bad, a little bit of harm are increasingly totally unacceptable and we therefore have I think the foundation for the kind of generational change and change in values that can really drive us more quickly towards climate change solutions. And in our Better Planet book there’s a really beautiful essay by one of the students at Yale, one of several student essays in this case by a guy named Paul Rink spelling out how young people in particular are starting to drive some of these court cases where they take on both the government and the big energy industry companies and say it’s up to you to make our future secure and you’re not doing the job you need to do. 17-year old innovator Mira Bhattacharya doesn’t believe in the current cleanup solution for oil spills and spent three years searching for a better and more sustainable remedy. In this talk she explains how simple orange peels hold the answer. Mira Bhattacharya is a 17-year-old Toronto-based innovator, who is passionate about using upcoming and exponential technologies to impact billions. From a young age, she became interested in tackling both social justice and environmental issues. She has competed and presented her research on environmental sustainability on two occasions at the Canada Wide Science Fair, garnering her two silver medals, as well as the Youth Can Innovate award. In March of 2020, Mira Co-Founded “Disable the Difference”, a Non-Profit Organization with a mission to raise awareness, provide support, and advocate for policy change for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Samadrita is a 7-year old student with a strong inclination towards preserving nature and all the life forms on earth. She visualizes a world that is peaceful, empathetic and thrives in inter-species harmony. An avid reader, Samadrita is well aware of the current threats to our environment and the human activities that have led to this situation. She is not only vocal about the adverse ill-effects of Climate change, but she lives by example by walking the walk. Being aware of our carbon footprints, she has already been plant-based for the past two years and avoids any packaged food products to say the least. Samadrita is also passionate about animal welfare and is empathetic towards all beings equally. At a very young age, she has taken up the mission to raise awareness and set an example for all.
