On December 3, 2009, Ecotrust recognized five of the West's most innovative Indigenous leaders for their efforts to improve community conditions. Jim Manion, Janeen Comenote, Allen Pinkham, Sr., A. Brian Wallace, and Patricia L. Whitefoot were honored for their work spanning youth advocacy, education, renewable energy, cultural restoration, and scholarship.

The Ecotrust Indigenous Leadership Award is a preeminent program supporting tribal, First Nation, and Alaska Native leaders. These groups are vital nations, governments, landowners, resource co-managers, and economic drivers, contributing long-range vision and sustainable values to the global economy.

Since 1989, Northwest Coastal Indians have participated in the Canoe Journey, traveling to villages along the ancestral highways of the Salish Sea. This spiritual commitment requires participants to be free from alcohol and drugs, offering profound healing for individuals, families, and tribes, especially those in recovery.

The Center for Biological Diversity experienced a fast and successful 2025, despite multiple investigations and attacks from President Trump and far-right House members aimed at intimidation. These efforts failed to slow us down.

Since Trump's second inauguration on January 20, we have filed 65 lawsuits. These actions targeted destructive policies, climate-killing fossil fuels, widespread chemical approvals, and the despoilment of vital ecosystems like the Everglades. We also fought corruption threatening wilderness areas and defended national parks from exploitation.
