Raymond is the co-founder and CEO of Farmacy Hong Kong Limited, the 1st “Agri-Prop” (agriculture and properties) tech company in Asia that builds smart indoor mobile farms in highly urbanized cities, enabling supermarkets, restaurants, schools, offices, residential projects, and households to farm ultra-fresh, safe and nutrient rich green produces on-site with 100% transparent and fully automated indoor farming technologies. Currently sitting in Trade & Industry Advisory Board of HKSAR Government, Consumer Council, and BUD Fund Review Panel, he focuses on improving new tech & innovative product commercialisation, quality enhancement and identifying overseas market opportunities for SMEs through various regional economic and cultural development initiatives for Hong Kong. Joy graduated from the HK Baptist University and previously worked at a top PR agency in Hong Kong. She has returned to school to study design and hopes to continue spreading her message of sustainability. Founder Joy is the Founder of BasicYeh, a zero-waste online store offering products and tips to help people starting their plastic-free journey. She believes that giving back to society and educating the next generation is the core of sustainability and donates part of her revenue to improve the basic education and living conditions of underprivileged kids. Joy graduated from the HK Baptist University and used to work as a junior manager in one of the top PR agencies in Hong Kong. Davy Lau's talk will present the current position and challenges of Hong Kong's waste management system. He will outline the current policy and legislation, how to mobilize the community to enhance public awareness and participation in environmental protection, and investing in infrastructure for the betterment of HK's waste management system. Davy Lau is an environmental engineer by profession with over 15 years of experience in waste and wastewater management. He has joined the Environmental Protection Department (EPD) since 2012, and his portfolios covered management of the strategic landfills, as well as policies related to waste reduction and municipal solid waste charging. He is currently working on a series of community involvement project to promote waste separation and recycling in different sectors sponsored by the Environment and Conservation Fund. “It’s as if human beings and nature have been dating for tens of thousands of years, but we’ve always taken her for granted and never respected her.” Reflecting on his relationship with the environment, Hong Kong’s very own Keep Clean Ambassador Ah Tak challenges viewers to rethink their everyday actions and habits, such as staycation, while debuting his latest love song for the environment. In 2016, Ah Tak was appointed by the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department Hong Kong as the official mascot. Since then, he has been dedicating his life to promoting love and respect for the environment. It is reported that he remains single due to his strong devotion to his career. This talk was part of the TEDxTongChongSt COUNTDOWN. ACTION. NOW. virtual event on Oct. 15, 2020. COUNTDOWN is TED's global initiative to accelerate solutions to the climate crisis. The goal: to build a better future by cutting greenhouse gas emissions in half by 2030, in the race to a zero-carbon world. Born and raised in Hong Kong, Ah Tak is a dinosaur-like creature in green who speaks Cantonese. Christine’s TEDx presentation focuses on food waste, an enormous problem in the world, including Hong Kong. However, this is also an environmental issue where individuals and organisations have direct control over and they could significantly reduce food loss and food waste. The presentation suggests how Hong Kong, Macao and Guangdong can work together to rethink and rebrand their famous food culture into a healthy and wise one that takes food waste reduction into account. Christine’s TEDx presentation focuses on food waste, an enormous problem in the world, including in Hong Kong. This is one environmental issue where individuals and organisations have direct control over and they could significantly reduce food loss and food waste. The presentation suggests how Hong Kong, Macao and Guangdong can work together to rethink and rebrand their famous food culture into a healthy and wise one that takes food waste reduction into account. Christine served as a Legislator in the years of 1992-1997 and 1998-2000. She published several environmental policy reports, such as on improving air quality; served as the CEO of Civic Exchange 2000-2012, researched and managed many policy-related reports; she served as the Undersecretary for the Environment, HKSAR Government 2012-17. Currently, Christine teaches at HKUST and also a course at the Anderson School of Management, UCLA, on nonmarket risks.
