Diana Pacin deGongora is a mechanical engineer by training, working in the air conditioning and refrigeration industry when the Montreal and Kyoto Protocols transitioned the industry away from ozone-depleting refrigerants. As a professor at Miami-Dade College, she was part of the Earth Ethics Institute, whose mission is to infuse Earth Literacy throughout the college’s academics and operations. She’s currently focused on educating her community about the harms of single-use plastic and collaborating with the South Florida Plastic Coalition—advocating to reduce her county’s use of single-use-plastic.
