Ari Matusiak is CEO of Rewiring America, a nonprofit dedicated to electrifying 121 million U.S. households. His work addresses the fact that 42% of energy emissions originate from home decisions like heating, cooking, and driving, aiming to launch a nationwide electrification movement.

He is also Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Purpose Venture Group, an advisory firm building community-centered ventures to combat climate and economic inequality. Matusiak brings nearly a decade of executive leadership in renewable energy and household electrification.

Previously, Ari served in the Obama White House as Special Assistant to the President, focusing on economic policy and private sector engagement. He is also Co-Founder and Chairman of Young Invincibles, a national nonprofit. Learn more about TEDx events here.

Companies developing lightweight structural materials seek sustainable alternatives. Strong By Form, a 2022 Ray of Hope Prize participant, offers a solution by applying the natural intelligence of tree structures to engineered wood. Their design-to-manufacturing technology combines digital design, structural optimization, and fabrication to produce lightweight, wood-based composite parts. This innovation replaces high-CO2 materials like concrete and steel across diverse applications.

For instance, their Woodflow-composite slabs can reduce concrete use by 30% and wood by 70% compared to conventional timber-concrete slabs. Strong By Form is also developing optimized wood-based connectors to eliminate metal in frame joints, creating lighter, 100% wood-based, and lower-CO2 structures.

The panel “Women Parliamentarians for a Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty” convened on June 27, 2025, as part of the virtual Global Women’s Assembly for Climate Justice. Co-hosted by Parliamentarians for a Fossil Fuel Free Future, the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty, and WECAN, the panel featured Senators Cecilia Requena (Bolivia) and Rosa Galvez (Canada), and MPs Nusrat Hanje (Tanzania) and Zali Steggall (Australia), moderated by Tzeporah Berman.

Organized by the Women’s Earth and Climate Network (WECAN) from June 23-28, 2025, the Assembly united over 125 women leaders and policymakers from 50 countries. WECAN is excited to announce the new Ponca Earthen Lodge Project for Food Sovereignty in Ponca Nation, Oklahoma. This vital initiative, led by Indigenous Ponca elder Casey Camp-Horinek and the Women's Society, addresses the escalating climate crisis and severe fossil fuel pollution impacting the region.

The traditional Earthen Lodge will provide a safe haven during extreme weather and climate disasters. It will also offer space to grow and store traditional foods using generational Indigenous knowledge, support cultural ceremonies, and address rising domestic violence.
