The Killing Fields of Texas | Beyond the Border Pt.1.

Thousands of immigrants have died on the ranches of Brooks County, Texas.

Most of the deaths occur while migrants are trying to circumvent the US Border Patrol’s inland checkpoint and hike through rugged ranch lands. 

Some ranchers are taking up arms to fight back against the influx of migrants, while others are setting up water stations and trying to save their lives. However, as temperatures rise and the humanitarian crisis continues, the deaths are at an all-time high.

Girls with little or no education are far more likely to be married as children, suffer domestic violence, live in poverty, and lack a say over household spending or their own health care than better-educated peers, which harms them, their children, and communities, a new report by the World Bank Group finds.
