Driven by witnessing the connection between injustice and environmental degradation, Jess Grady-Benson co-founded the Claremont Colleges Fossil Fuel Divestment Campaign in 2012. She led the campaign to a victory at Pitzer College in 2014, securing fossil fuel divestment.

Post-graduation, Grady-Benson continues building the youth climate justice movement through the national Fossil Fuel Divestment Student Network. As a coordinating committee member and Director of Training, she plans strategic direction, designs leadership programs, and trains young organizers nationwide to advance divestment and a just transition.

Dr. Bullard, an award-winning author of eighteen books, is a leading expert in environmental and climate justice, sustainable development, and related fields. His seminal work, *Dumping in Dixie*,

Dr. Bullard, an award-winning author of eighteen books, is a leading expert in environmental and climate justice, sustainable development, and related fields. His seminal work, *Dumping in Dixie*, is a standard text. He co-founded the HBCU Climate Change Consortium and directs the Bullard Center for Environmental and Climate Justice, having previously served as Dean at Texas Southern University.

In 2022, Dr. Bullard received an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree *in absentia* from the Graduate School of Arts & Sciences, where his commencement address was read to great acclaim. He was welcomed to campus on April 26, 2023, by the Graduate School and Earth Commons.

The Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC) comprises two limbs. Its upper limb transports warm, tropical waters northward, releasing heat influencing European weather. The lower limb carries cold, dense waters southward at depth.

Driven by solar radiation, the AMOC's upper limb features vigorous currents like the Gulf Stream, flowing north along the Atlantic's western boundary. These currents, forming eddies, carry heat towards higher latitudes, reaching the Nordic Seas to cool and densify.

In regions like the Labrador Sea, these cooled, dense waters plunge via convection to 1000-2000m. This forms the Deep Western Boundary Current, the AMOC's lower limb, flowing slowly southward along the continental slope. Further south, this deep flow is disrupted by topography and eddies, losing its structure.
