The Biden administration announced plans to waive 26 of the United States’ most important environmental laws to rush new border wall construction in Texas, damaging fragile habitat near a national wildlife refuge — right where the Center was battling Trump’s wall. More border wall cuts off more cougars, bobcats and other wildlife from the Rio Grande, their main water source. And it could mean the bulldozing of endangered plants like prostrate milkweed — crucial for migratory monarch butterflies — with no legal recourse to protect them.
