The University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL) and ClimateWise presented actionable recommendations. Their work outlines priorities for urgently expanding risk sharing and insurance systems as an essential climate policy response. These recommendations provide a pathway to immediately quantify, manage, and reduce climate risks, and to integrate climate policy and regulation for a resilient, net-zero, and just transition across all economies.

Over the past two years, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and its partners have strengthened agrifood systems in the Dominican Republic. Their animal health initiative specifically targeted African Swine Fever (ASF), significantly improving biosecurity.

As a result, 25 pig farms, including Jonathan Rivera's (featured in a video), have been certified for enhanced biosecurity measures. Compliance with these standards surged from 35% to nearly 80%, reducing disease circulation and bolstering national prevention systems. These efforts are boosting the country's pork export potential, supporting producer livelihoods, and increasing foreign exchange income.

The event convened senior representatives from insurance, regulators, and governments to discuss their collective roles in addressing the global climate challenge.

Excessive water diversion for agriculture, requiring dams and heavy irrigation, had severely depleted water tables and fish populations like salmon, sturgeon, and trout.

The Salmon Run Relay, mimicking salmon migration, also educated the community on native diet and culture, featuring a ceremony based on Yurok, Hupa, and Karuk traditions. Erika and Kayla further organized town hall meetings and distributed pamphlets, aiming to unite cultures, promote health, and encourage political engagement for river conservation.

The event focused on the "Half-Earth" pathway, which emphasizes conserving 50% of terrestrial and ocean areas by 2050 in biodiversity-rich zones and connecting corridors.
