Dr. Haley Mellin, founder of Art-to-Acres and Conserve.org, artist, and researcher and Dr. Steven Brumby CEO/CTO and Co-Founder of Impact Observatory joined Garrison Institute co-founder Jonathan F.P. Rose to discuss innovative approaches to large-scale conservation, biodiversity’s role in planetary health, and using visualization to support these goals. Recorded on January 25, this was the first Pathways to Planetary Health (PPH) Forum event of 2022 and focused on our first pathway, Half-Earth. Half-Earth describes the required lands we, collectively, most conserve in biodiversity rich areas and connecting corridors to stabilize life and climate health on the planet, and emphasizes 50% of terrestrial and ocean conservation by 2050. Half-Earth is one necessary component of planetary health, but not singularly sufficient.
