Nicole Crooks and Michael Clarkson illuminate how climate change disproportionately impacts BIPOC communities. They share firsthand experiences of climate gentrification in Overtown, Miami, empowering us to advocate for vulnerable communities whose legacies are being erased.

An Overtown resident, Crooks is co-founder of KonsciousKontraktors Ink and CEO of Ti Ayiti Preparedness And Relief Institution (TAPARI). Her direct experience with Miami’s climate justice issues inspired her to co-found the Black Butterfly Collective, an environmental justice and wellness project supporting Black women in the fight against climate change.
