The WSIS Prizes, recognizing innovative technological approaches for sustainable development, were announced on 28 May 2024 in Geneva. Projects from 18 countries received top honors for bridging the digital divide and driving socio-economic progress, showcasing vital contributions to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Among these innovations is GeoTanaman, a cutting-edge web and mobile system for Malaysia's food crops. Launched in 2022, it acquires, manages, and analyzes geospatial data to create a comprehensive National Crop Inventory. He seeks to inspire passion to protect the biosphere.

Brorby is also the author of *Crude: Poems*, with work appearing in *The NY Times* and *Orion*. He has received prestigious fellowships and teaches nonfiction writing at the University of Alabama.

Naeen Jackson, a former farmer and Food Safety and Environmental Consultant at Jamaica's Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, leads the Essex Valley Agriculture Development Project. This initiative, funded by the UK and administered by the Caribbean Development Bank, represents Jamaica's largest single investment (£35.5M) in irrigation infrastructure.

The project aims to enhance productivity for over 700 farmers across 700 hectares by providing irrigation and improving market access. It emphasizes a socially inclusive, gender-equitable, and climate-sensitive approach. As an agricultural entrepreneur, Naeen is also a strong advocate for youth and women in agriculture.

Water Protectors at the main resistance camp in North Dakota vowed continued resistance to the Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL) as the camp was largely vacated following a Wednesday eviction order. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and North Dakota governor imposed a deadline, leading to around 10 arrests. Before the eviction, prayer ceremonies were held, and part of the camp was set on fire.

Protectors assert the camp sits on unceded Sioux territory under the 1851 Treaty of Fort Laramie. While most left, a couple dozen people remain. This encampment, once hosting over 10,000, was the largest gathering of Native Americans in decades. Construction on the final pipeline section resumed after the Trump administration granted an easement to drill beneath the Missouri River.
