Communities of color are disproportionately affected by climate change and air pollution. We will hear from Rev. Louis Tillman, Senior Pastor of St. Philip's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Baltimore, about his work in these communities. Patricia Rubio, CCL Diversity and Inclusion Program Coordinator, supports effective communications and transformative justice. Her background as an Environmental Educator helps unite people with nature and foster connections with indigenous flora and fauna.

Her Project 562 is a multi-year national photography project dedicated to photographing over 562 federally recognized tribes in The United States.

Her work led her to becoming a certified teacher at Tulalip Heritage High School, providing inspiration for the youth of her own indigenous community. Matika, a Native American woman of the Swinomish and Tulalip Tribes (Washington), is unique as an artist and social documentarian in Indian Country. The insight, depth, and passion with which she explores the contemporary Native identity and experience are communicated through the impeccable artistry of each of her silver gelating photographs.

With a nearing trillion-dollar budget deficit and high unemployment, the expiring Bush-era tax cuts presented a critical economic challenge. President Obama advocated raising taxes on incomes over $250,000 to reduce the deficit. Conversely, others argued the wealthiest 1% already pay over a quarter of federal taxes, and higher taxes on "job creators" would hinder economic growth. The central question remained: should tax breaks be extended for everyone, or are the wealthy not paying their "fair share"?

Thousands of immigrants have died on the ranches of Brooks County, Texas.

Most of the deaths occur while migrants are trying to circumvent the US Border Patrol’s inland checkpoint and hike through rugged ranch lands. 

Some ranchers are taking up arms to fight back against the influx of migrants, while others are setting up water stations and trying to save their lives. However, as temperatures rise and the humanitarian crisis continues, the deaths are at an all-time high.
