Deserts, often perceived as barren, host hundreds of unique species, many endemic or long-lived. Ethnobotanist Carrie Canon will discuss traditional Tribal plant uses, the distinctive flora of North American Deserts, and the Mojave's unique characteristics.

Carrie Calisay Cannon, of Kiowa, Oglala Lakota, and German heritage, holds degrees in Wildlife Biology and Resource Management. She is an Ethnobotanist for the Hualapai Indian Tribe and a lapidary/silversmith artist crafting Native Southwestern turquoise jewelry.
