About This Collection

There are fifty+ channels on YouTube bringing the voices of wisdom keepers to the fore, most publishers are indigenous communities. We support the sharing and preservation of sacred wisdom teachings, the very foundation of sustainability principles and practices, and offer EarthSayers as a "connecting tool" working towards the idea of One Voice through this special collection and other vidoes on EarthSayers such the series, Native Perspectives on Sustainability and special collections on Indigenous Elders Dr. David Courchene, Ilarion Merculief, and Dr. Robin Kimmerer

We are grateful to the individuals and organizations who are using the world wide web to present and spread the indigenous voices of wisdom.

Talks at Google has uploaded Betty Soskin: "Of Lost Conversations: Opportunity and Discrimination

Betty Reid Soskin, the nation's oldest active park ranger, shared her unique experiences as a Black woman in World War II shipyards during a "Talks at Google" event published on September 15, 2016. Now in her 90s, Soskin serves at the Rosie the Riveter World War II/Home Front National Historical Park in Richmond, California, a park she helped establish.

Her talk, titled "Of Lost Conversations: Opportunity and Discrimination...", offers a firsthand perspective on the home front effort and the immense social changes she has witnessed. Soskin also reflects on the responsibilities of living in a democracy. More context on her work is available in the video: Of Lost Conversations.
