Caregiving for family is hard—here's how you can prepare | Grace Cheng | TEDxTinHauWomen
Grace unexpectedly became the primary caregiver for her grandparents at a young age. Her talk explores the importance of preparation and support to help transform the often-arduous caregiving journey into a meaningful and fulfilling experience. Passionate about social impact, she founded Agewhale, a start-up to transform elderly care through innovative solutions. From Grace’s first-hand experience, she offers valuable guidance for navigating the often overlooked yet inevitable part of end of life. After graduating in Social Sciences from the University of Hong Kong, Grace joined an ambitious social enterprise, Fair Employment Agency, with the mission to end the forced labor of migrant domestic workers. At 26, she stepped into the role of General Manager to lead the organization through the turbulent 3-year COVID-19 pandemic. Raised by her grandparents, she has always had a special connection with older adults. Through providing care to her grandparents in their final years, she has firsthand experience of the challenges faced by family caregivers. Earlier this year, she founded Agewhale, a start-up to transform elderly care through innovative solutions. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx

Charles Blow: A Black Power Manifesto
Join us on November 19 at 6 pm for the Commonwealth Club’s Virtual Gala. Raise your glass to Good Health, as we celebrate the leadership of women in science and medicine. Text Club2021 to 41444 or visit commonwealthclub.org/2021gala to register and donate today! Violence against Black people—both physical and psychological—has seemed only to increase in recent years, culminating in the historic pandemic and protests in the summer of 2020. “After centuries of waiting for white majorities to overturn white supremacy,” Charles Blow writes, “ it seems to me that it has fallen to Black people to do it themselves.” A New York Times op-ed columnist, Blow felt compelled to write a new story for Black Americans, one that involves a succinct, counterintuitive and impassioned correction to the myths that have for too long governed our thinking about race and geography in America. The Devil You Know is a grand exhortation to generations of a people, proposing nothing short of the most audacious power play by Black people in the history of this country. Join us as Charles Blow offers a road map to true and lasting freedom. NOTES Part of our Good Lit series, underwritten by The Bernard Osher Foundation. Photo by Beowulf Sheehan.
