Young Forest Champion partner: Interview with Víctor Santillán - Peru

Victor Santillan, Professor at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru and a key partner of FAO AIM4Forests’ Young Forest Champions initiative in Peru, shares his views on the importance of youth leadership in promoting forest conservation, climate action and sustainable livelihoods. He partnered with the 2025 Young Forest Champions Peru cohort, which brought together 10 young leaders from Peru (50 globally) selected to restore forests, monitor ecosystems and protect vital landscapes. Through mentorship, capacity-building and cutting-edge technologies such as remote sensing, participants are gaining the skills to create lasting impact.
